Do I need to buy any equipment?
No, to start you just need comfortable clothes to work out in, an open mind, and a desire to learn. We have all of the other equipment necessary. After your first month or so you will probably want to buy a training Gi (uniform) which are available on the internet for very affordable prices ($20-$30). Your first video training guide, student handbook, and student curriculum are all free and come with your first month’s tuition.
How much are classes?
Our monthly tuition is currently $40 a month. We are not a commercial dojo and as such we reinvest all of the tuition back into training.
How big are the classes?
Class sizes currently average from 4-6 students. We keep the class sizes small to focus on the individual development of our students.
When are classes?
Classes are currently held on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 9pm.
Class is only once a week?
Yes. We are not a commercial dojo and the instructors have professional/familial obligations outside of the dojo. Many of our students find it much easier to schedule a single class into their very busy lives. We have prepared video study guides to help our students retain knowledge and progress steadily in our art.
What do you teach?
We teach Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu as taught by Soke Hatsumi and his senior instructors. At the Bujinkan Chinkon Dojo we break the classes into 3 segments: Taijutsu Kihon, Happo Biken, Ryu-Ha
What is Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu?
Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu can be translated as Bujinkan martial body art. This is the term that Soke Hatsumi has given to the overall martial teachings that he shares.
What is the Bujinkan?
The Bujinkan is a global organization established by Soke Hatsumi to transmit his martial experience.
Do you teach Ninjutsu?
Yes, Ninjutsu is a central element in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. However, please keep in mind that it is just a part of the whole. Our study of Ninjutsu comes primarily from Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu, but there are still 8 other schools of Japanese martial arts that contribute to the Bujinkan method.

What is Ryu-Ha?
Ryu-Ha refers to the study of individual schools/systems of martial arts. In the Bujinkan this can refer to the 9 individual schools that Soke Hatsumi inherited from his master Takamatsu Toshitsugu. This includes studying such subjects as Gyokko Ryu Kosshijutsu, Koto Ryu Koppojutsu, Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu, Shinden Fudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu, Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu, and Kukishinden Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu.
How is the ranking structure organized?
Ranking in the Bujinkan follows a 9 Kyu grade and 15 Dan grade structure. Kyu grades are preliminary steps before Dan grades (black belts) and go from 9th Kyu to 1st Kyu. Dan Grades are black belt level grades and go from Shodan (1st degree black belt) to 15th Dan.

With consistent weekly training, it should take about 2-3 years.
